UPDATE
Just a notification that I am currently using Kubuntu 8.04 Full Time as my Desktop computer now so expect to see related posts. I'm also running Vista Home Premium on my newest laptop. If you read that article you will see that I am testing whether or not to switch over from XP to Vista on a permanent basis ... Well ... After reading about the latest (k)Ubuntu got me thinking of saying goodbye to Windows period. So now my My Vista Reality Check article will become "My Windows Reality Check" instead. To say the least, I am very impressed with Kubuntu, in a just a few hours, I had my XP Desktop computer dual booting with Linux and automatic mounting of my Windows partitions made me happy as can be. I installed a few programs I use regularly in XP, such as; Picasa, Google Earth, Firefox, Open Office (included). I suddenly realized I didn't need to do much else yet. I mean afterall, I could play ALL my music with Amarok (which I love), could also chat/IM using Kopete using any/all of my accounts from AIM, MSN, GTALK, Yahoo! SO what is next? I will be seeking alternatives to everything that I currently use in XP and seeking out comparable programs for Linux and where there is no compare - I will give Wine a try or maybe my XP will end up being run in a virtual (VirtBox) PC so I can still access my favorite applications.
